What Is a Home Inspection?
A home inspection is a professional, impartial, nondestructive, visual evaluation
of both the positives and negatives of a property. At Falcone Building Inspection
Service, Inc. we strive to educate buyers as to the age, design life, condition, and
required maintenance of inspected building components.
Although filely unheard of 20 years ago, home inspections have become common
for most home buyers in most parts of the United States. When done properly, a home
inspection is an excellent tool for reducing the risk of unanticipated expenses, but
due to the limitations of visual inspection, no home inspection can fully eliminate that risk.
Why Do I Need An Inspection?
The purchase of a home should be an informed decision. A two to three hour inspection
identifies defective conditions, maintenance requirements, and equipment or
components which are likely to require replacement within the first few years of
ownership. Unlike most home inspections, a Falcone Building Inspection Service
inspection also includes information on the cost-efficient operation of your home
systems as well as cost estimates for serious deficiencies.
Why Inspect New Construction?
The main source of supervision for most construction projects are municipal building
inspectors. In some municipalities, inspectors are qualified professionals and the
department is adequately staffed to allow thorough inspection of new construction
sites. In others, much is left to be desired. Considering the size of your investment,
additional oversight is highly desirable. It is not uncommon for new construction
inspections to uncover shoddy workmanship or improper installations.

What Is ASHI?
The American Society of Home Inspectors, Inc. (ASHI), was formed in 1976
as a national, nonprofit voluntary professional society. ASHI's more than 3,000
members are independent professionals who operate their own inspection services.
Only those inspectors who have met ASHI's rigorous professional and educational
requirements may qualify for membership in the organization. link.
How Much Does An Inspection Cost?
The inspection fee is based upon the age, style, and selling price of the property.
Call our office for a quote. Payment, by cash or check, is due upon completion of
the inspection.
When Should I Call The Home Inspector?
The time to call in the home inspector is after signing the agreement of sale.
During our busiest season, scheduling may be necessary up to a week in advance,
so be sure to allow enough time in your agreement.
Do I Need To Be Present At the Inspection?
While it is not required that clients be present for the inspection, it is highly
recommended. A report cannot make up for the absence of two to three hours
of personal dialogue. If you absolutely cannot be present, the inspector will
provide an audio tape of the inspection to accompany the report.
